Maestro Temirkanov and the orchestra extend very warm thanks indeed to everyone who has supported this new website since we launched on December 25 2007 and downloaded music from our shop.  We are delighted at the response we have had from old and new friends of the orchestra and would like to direct you to the new recordings in the shop available from June 1st!

Our thanks particularly this month to Dmitri Hvorostovsky and Yuri Bashmet who have generously made available for download from our online shop here their performances from the orchestra’s gala benefit concert in May 2002.   To refresh everyone’s memory of that wonderful event, we are posting Sir Peter Ustinov’s extraordinary introduction to the evening on our newsletter page.   Please do take just 30 seconds to enter your name and email address on the newsletter signup so we can stay in touch with you – and you will unlock the one of the most hilarious introductions ever to a classical concert.  While Sir Peter’s speech is playing, take a look even further back into the orchestra’s history with the amazing series of photographs we have made of some items from the Philharmonia archive – these have never been photographed before and are wonderful evidence of the treasures there under lock and key!
